HaeGen:
Innovative Production Technologies for the Cultivation of Microalgae for Nutraceutical and Pharmaceutical Applications
The project is a research and development initiative aimed at creating a cutting-edge system for the production of microalgae with the unique ability to accumulate significant amounts of carotenoids—compounds with powerful antioxidant properties and a wide range of applications in the field of human health.
The goal is to introduce a more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to microalgae production by developing an alternative, natural method for obtaining carotenoids, which are currently marketed primarily as synthetic products.
The partner companies will focus on translating scientific discoveries into practical, scalable solutions—particularly through process optimization, the engineering of production systems, and the formulation of cosmetic products and dietary supplements.
